The Moerhuisje is located in the rural Moerhuize district. Moerhuize is a neighborhood in the municipality of Maldegem that is known for its steam museum, the Japanese, French and English gardens, the Canada Museum and the organization of numerous events such as the Day of the Horse (October) and Maldegem walking, cycling and tasting (August ). Moerhuize is located between two historic canals: the Leopold Canal and the Schipdonk Canal. The district is an oasis of peace and a paradise for recreationists. Walking and enjoying nature can be done along the canal banks of the Leopoldskanaal. Cycle paths were constructed along the Schipdonk Canal so that people can cycle safely and free from all traffic up to the coast. The district is also adjacent to a number of signposted cycling routes and a bridle path and is located on the border of the Meetjesland creek area and West and Zeeland Flanders. From the farm you can cycle undisturbed deep into the Sentse creek area and Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, but also to the historic Drongengoed with its nature reserves and hundreds of hectares of forest and this along signposted and safe cycling routes. Historic towns and villages such as Middelburg, Sluis and Aardenburg are barely five to ten kilometers from the district. The more fashionable Knokke-Heist (16 km), Damme (15 km) and Bruges (20 km) are also nearby.
